”To increase the number of culturally responsible Black
engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.”
Why join UHNSBE?
Excel academically through our study nights, academic competitions, and our coding team. Connect with other motivated people in your major and gain a support system. Be eligible for scholarships on the local, regional, and national levels, and be the first to know about other scholarship opportunities.
Succeed professionally by attending our professional development workshops and company info sessions. Be the first to know about internship, co-op, and full-time job opportunities. Stand out at career fairs with your polished resume and fluid elevator speech. By joining UHNSBE, your professional network will naturally expand. Plus, active participation in NSBE will look great on your resume!
Positively impact the community by volunteering throughout the community. Past volunteer opportunities include the Children’s Museum of Houston, S.H.A.P.E. Community Center, and Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Additionally, inspire young minds to pursue STEM through our Pre-College Initiative (PCI) events. Be the change you want to see.
Conferences and Conventions
Many of our members receive interviews and job offers from attending the Fall Regional Conference and National Convention. Prestigious companies from all over the country congregate at these events looking for YOU. Paid national members receive the members’ registration fee (about 1/3 of what a non-member would pay), and active members of UHNSBE receive subsidized travel and lodging accommodations based on our point system. Don’t miss out!
