Join us, and find out what membership can do for you.
Membership unlocks benefits that will deepen your experience as a part of UHNSBE. Members earn points for their attendance and participation in NSBE events, building up to Nationals next Spring. There are several membership types available; click below to learn which type best suits you!
Step 1 (Locally):
If you’re a current UH student (undergrad or grad), collegiate membership is probably for you. (Make sure you check out Joint and Professional Membership to be sure!)
Membership dues are $20.00, which pays for a t-shirt and a 2017-2018 membership! Fill out the form below, then click ‘Submit’ so that we have your information. Then select ‘Add to Cart’ to pay dues and become eligible to start earning points. See us at the next General body meeting so we can give you a shirt!
Your cart is available here
Step 2 (Nationally):
Visit the NSBE.ORG website to get plugged in with black engineers around the country. Registering and preparing for the NSBE National conference starts here!
NSBE Professional Membership is open to any individual who has received a degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline.
If you are a professional, but did not receive a degree in any of the STEM fields, you are still eligible for membership as an NSBE Professional Affiliate member.
Chapter Advisors (Collegiate or NSBE Jr. chapters) who want to join NSBE should join as NSBE Professional or NSBE Professional Affiliate members, depending on background.
Graduate students have the option to be NSBE Professional members OR Collegiate members. We recommend you choose your membership type based on your level of involvement in NSBE. If you do more NSBE interaction on a University campus – Collegiate membership may be right for you.
If instead, you interact more with local professionals or feel like the undergraduate chapter doesn’t fit your needs, we welcome you as an NSBE Professional member and encourage you to join or start your local NSBE Professional Chapter.
The membership term is one year from August 1 – July 31 of the following year.
When you pay for your membership, check the “Auto renew” box to automatically renew your membership this year. Never be without membership benefits again!
Annual dues are only $50! There may be additional chapter and regional dues that you have to pay to be considered a fully active member.
If you recently graduated from college (within the past year) and were an active Collegiate Member, you are eligible to have your first year of NSBE Professional dues waived. Email email@example.com for details and help on making that happen!
If you choose not to be affiliated with a chapter in your local area, you will be considered a “Member At-Large,” classified by your geographical region. Members “At-Large” receive the same national benefits as those who belong to a chapter.

Members can take advantage of lower prices by joining two organizations at once. Joint membership is available for UHNSBE and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE)* and UHNSBE and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
To join SWE – when joining or renewing your NSBE membership, simply click on the checkbox that says SWE Joint Membership and your total will automatically be updated to reflect your joint, discounted fee. It may take up to 4 weeks for your SWE membership to be recognized in their National Office.
To join ASME – go to their website and join directly at www.asme.org and mention that you are a member of NSBE to receive a discount on your ASME membership fees.
* SWE joint membership available from May 1 through December 1 annually. Mid-year applications will not be accepted.
