Community Service Chair

Ali Hashi

I am a junior-senior (4th year but credit-wise I’m classified as a junior) student majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Interesting fact: I am trilingual.

My goal for this chapter is to foster a stronger relationship between Houston’s black community and UH NSBE that will continue long after we’ve all graduated. I hope to create new community service events that will be cemented as annual functions.

Academic Excellence Chair

Andrew Nguyen

Hi guys, I’ll be a junior this year majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Some my other involvements at UH include the Honors engineering program, the Tennis club, and the Biomedical Optics Lab. Feel free to shoot me an email and ask me questions about any of my experiences!

Some of my goals for NSBE this year are for us to increase our focus on classwork and good study habits. I would like to also expose our members to the amazing opportunities available to them such as internships and Co-ops, and help them shape the skills that they need to get these opportunities.

Pre-College Initiative Chair

Christian Eldridge

I am a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston. An interesting fact about me is that I religiously use music for meditation.

One of my big goals for NSBE this year is making sure that people know that there are organizations like us out here whose intentions are purely to create a better community and environment for African Americans.

Historian

Muhammad Isiaka

I am a junior studying Civil Engineering and love playing soccer, basketball and table tennis. I can read and write three languages ( English, Yoruba and Arabic). I have been to at least 6 countries ( Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Amsterdam, UK, U,S). I enjoy binge-watching movies and tv shows in my spare time. I am a very competitive person so I love playing games.

My goal is to increase the number of freshman and sophomores joining UH NSBE as well as increase the participation of students in community service.

Telecommunications Chair

Laosha Quaites

Welcome! I am a sophomore level Chemical Engineer in the making with a healthy dose of art and coding skills! As a recent transfer student to University of Houston, UH NSBE has been a major factor in my integration with campus life.

This upcoming year, my goal for NSBE is to spread the positive influence of this wonderful and highly active organization through media and member interaction and win a bit of chapter recognition along the way.

Marketing Chair

Erron Williams

I am a sophomore Chemical Engineering student and anyone who’s met me knows I’m typically the energetic and social person in the room.

My goal for NSBE this year is to increase the number of members locally and nationally and to win our Third Straight National Chapter of the year award!

Public Relations

Maureen Lissanon

I am currently a junior Mechanical Engineering Student here at UH. Something most people don’t know about me is that I speak fluent German!

My officer goals for NSBE this school year are to utilize social media to spread the word of this incredible organization campus-wide and across the Houston community.

Career Fair Assistant II

Dana Gilmore

Sophomore, Mechanical Engineering Technology major here at the University of Houston. An interesting thing fact about me is that I’m left-handed.

My goals for this position as the Career Fair Assistant are to contribute to the planning and executing of the Fall and Spring career fairs to the best of my ability by making sure that I am not only present but actively working in the career fair committee. Another goal of mine is to help raise NSBE funds and provide support networks for members of this NSBE chapter through different sales and events on campus.

Finance Chair/Career Fair Assistant I

Cynthia Atanga

I am a Chemical Engineering senior in love with art and creativity.

As a UH NSBE Officer, I want to give a chance to our members to grow and benefit from an organization as great as ours, the way that I did. I will do this by driving our members towards their career goals through allocation of volunteer activities and encouraging them to attend our anticipated NSBE conferences.

Career Fair Chair

Joseph Emesih

I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student with a secondary focus in Technology Entrepreneurship.

My goal for UH NSBE this academic year is to provide our members with a wealth of professional opportunities in various fields through the provision of development events geared towards career exposure and navigation.

Graduate Chair

Lawrence Dahunsi

I’m a Mechanical Engineering Masters student. I play the drums, conga, and a little bit of the piano; all of which I taught myself.

My goal as Graduate Chair for the UH NSBE chapter is to increase the participation and activeness of graduate students in NSBE. I also aim to have the graduate students serve as mentors to undergraduates who plan to pursue postgraduate degrees.

Membership Chair

Alissa Cana

Hey everyone!! I’m a fifth year Mechanical Engineering major here at UH. UH NSBE has been my lifeline and community for going on three years now. The energy and genuine care I’ve experienced in my time with NSBE has kept me passionate about this organization and our membership.

I thrive off of new adventures and great times with loved ones. Justice and ethics are core to my passions, and I will go to great lengths to keep myself and NSBE accountable for doing the right thing as we pursue the NSBE mission. I’m excited to tackle a new year with UH NSBE, working to make it feel like both a home and an adventure.

Senator II

Angel Apreza

I am an Industrial Engineering student starting my junior year in the program. I love to learn current technology that can be used to better the world. I love volunteering and mentoring underprivileged students.

My goal this year for NSBE is to help the chapter win a third consecutive chapter of the year award by positively impacting the community.

Senator I

Emmanuel Nwaobi

I am a senior majoring in Computer Engineering. In my free time, I enjoy exploring different styles of music, photography, and dancing.

My goal as a NSBE Senator is to help all my fellow officers achieve their goals by utilizing my wide range of connections and resources and connect the NSBE members to fruitful opportunities for their professional and academic careers.

Programs Chair

Head of Programs Zone

Rabbiyah Baksh

Hi NSBE fam, I am a sophomore Chemical Engineering major and it is a privilege to serve as the Programs Chair this year. I grew up in the Caribbean (holler at me if you would like to know which country), and I have ambitious goals to give back to the upcoming generation.

My goals this year is to cultivate a very inclusive environment as we continue to spread our NSBE luv with our new and continuing members.

Treasurer

Head of Finance Zone

Assad Soomro

I am a junior studying mechanical engineering and love to play basketball whenever I can.

My goal for UHNSBE is leadership transparency. I would like to push for more member involvement in not only attending events but helping organize the logistics of events as well.

Vice Chair

Chidinma Nwadialo

I am a Chemical Engineering senior who is passionate about God, family and friends. I have numerous interests such as; music, business, fitness, public speaking, and representing the Afrocentric hair community. I strive to inspire others and love to interact with people in comedic ways to make them feel comfortable and NSBE gives me the avenue to do that. A fun fact about me is that I am a New Year’s baby, I find that pretty cool.

Over the years, UH NSBE has grown as a chapter, but this year I want to see the members grow individually by creating a conducive atmosphere for everyone to grow and take the lead. I hope to accomplish this goal.

Chair

Kayla Nash

I am a junior studying Supply Chain Logistics Technology. A fun fact about me is that I am a self-proclaimed pancake enthusiast.

One goal of mine is to create opportunities for NSBE members to grow their leadership skills outside of traditional CEB roles.

Secretary

Head of Communications Zone

Andrea Pettaway

I am a senior majoring in Civil Engineering. I’m a military brat, so I’ve lived a lot of different places (including Germany!), but I consider myself to be a Texan through and through. My hobbies include going to concerts and enjoying ethnic cuisine. I’m very passionate about STEM outreach and environmental justice issues, so I plan to use my degree and the skills I’ve gained from NSBE to contribute to those causes.

My goals for NSBE this year are to implement effective ways to spread the word about our wonderful organization and improve internal communication.
